Leadership is an attitude and a mindset. It is not the achievement of a series of jobs. It is not a passing grade at some course. It is not a title. It is not something you attain. It is a method you exist. It is how you carry yourself. It is how you choose to walk the Earth.
And if it can't be accomplished through efficiency, maybe it can be attained by lowering those around us so that we 'appear' just a little much better. However while we specify 'greatness' as how others perceive us, Jesus does an end run and discusses achievement as not promoting yourself (or decreasing others), however of lowering yourself. And I think we could securely analyze that Jesus wasn't advising the disciples to lower themselves here to be observed by others either.
The truth is that effective leaders listen more than they talk. They neither bluff nor exaggerate. They influence others by doing what they state they will and satisfying their pledges. Effective leaders interact effectively.
Leadership in a herd is not a result of winning an appeal contest. My other horses, especially the geldings, will typically communicate and play horse video games with each other but the 2 leaders always differ from such activities. Being the herd leader really looks like a lonesome position.
Focus for a moment on what this suggests for managerial leadership. If supervisors, as coaches and leaders, engage in this kind of behaviour, how will companies ever take the required leap of faith to become discovering organizations? What do supervisors fear? And what do staff worry in revealing their leadership capabilities in their everyday work?
Look within and you will quickly locate the only leader you will ever need. Somebody who's impulses are higher than any monster in the forest and intuitively understands what to do. And it sure as hell ain't to purchase leads and systems.within each people is a clear understanding that we need to lead ourselves to change first. Once we do, we will immediately have the ability to recognize what is necessary, authentic and useful to others.
